"Shenandoah" Civil War epic shoots in Winchester, VA

This past weekend market the shoot of the Shenandoah valley's largest filmed civil war reenactment, helmed by the team at Monolopolus Productions. The production captured a series of pivotal moments and characters from some of the civil war's most pertinent battles, and introduced audiences to a new view on our nation's deadliest conflict. 

The shoot was a collaboration between Guy William Gane III's Old Timey Casting and Monolopolus Productions Atlanta-based production team. The production was directed by Ryan Monolopolus with Josh Saideman serving as director oh photography. The shoot entailed several live firing cannons, a full live cavalry team, dozens of historically fitted soldiers with blank firing weapons and a stunt team helmed by Jae Greene, the 2nd unit director.

"Dead Men" launches production in Atlanta, GA.

The short neo-western thriller Dead Men launched production July 31st in Atlanta, GA. The project is a collaboration between director Ryan Monolopolus (Mono Productions) and Director of Photography Josiah Morgan. 

The film chronicles three men lost in the wilderness, each carrying a portion of a complete message to a safe house in the north. For reasons unknown they are being tracked by a man only known as the Hunter, who has been killing off members of the group one by one. The only hope remaining for the travelers is to make it to the safe house... before the hunter does.

"Friends to the End" film begins production this September in Buffalo, NY

Monolopolus Productions has just announced it's next short film collaboration with puppeteering company Future Self Productions. The project, titled Friends to the End, is a drark comedy / drama piece that will launch production in the city of Buffalo, NY this September.

Already confirmed are several notable Western New York actors and filmmakers including actor Robert Bozek (Emelie, Marshall) who will be playing the lead role of Bobby. Mr. Bozek is a frequent star of upstate New York productions. Other announced cast includes Buffalo actor Michael O'hear (Death House, Killer Rack), actress Sam Jindra (The Butcher) and actor Matthew Kozak (Buffalo Boys). 

Buffalo native Ryan Monolopolus wrote the script and will be directing the short. Now based in Atlanta, GA and New York City, Monolopolus will be returning to Buffalo for the production. 

"The concept is to essentially tell very layered, dramatic stories though puppetry," commented Monolopolus, "we are all very excited to be working with the Future Self team again to make something memorable. And what better way to celebrate that than to come back to the city of Buffalo where the magic began?"

The last collaboration between Future Self and Monolopolus Productions was at the 2013 Holiday 48 Hour Film Festival. The result was the drama Before Christmas, which won six awards at the event including Audience Choice Award and the Best Director Award for Monolopolus. Since then Future Self has created a number of films and commercials, and Monolopolus Productions has released several features, shorts and two TV pilots. 

"We are locking in our final team and cast over the next month and will be making some big announcements soon. We ran a small proof of concept shoot in Buffalo this July which gave us some fantastic ideas. Anticipate a very fun film, but also a very dark film," added Monolopolus.

64/8 Premieres in Atlanta, GA

The TV pilot 64/8 premiered in Atlanta, GA on May 5th to a sold out crowd in the city's historic plaza theater. Energy was high and reviews were overwhelmingly positive for the inaugural screening of Atlanta's newest comedy series created by Ryan Monolopolus and Edward Reid. 

The series chronicles the lives of "extras", or background actors, trying to make it big in the Georgia entertainment industry. The 25 minute pilot was filled with plenty of memorable characters, big laughs and a reflection of life in show business. 

"We were so happy to share this with the Atlanta community and to tell an important story - which is that the lives of extras matter too," commented co-creator Edward Reid after taking a bow on stage, "when we came up with the idea we never imagined things would take off the way they did... but the entire community rallied around us and believed in the project. We can't wait to take it to the next level."

"We shot it here, we screened it here, and now we are pushing to shoot a full season here," stated co-creator Ryan Monolopolus, "and people laughed like hell. What else do you need?"

The production brought together an array of companies from the Atlanta region. It is produced by Monolopolus Productions in association with Vaslov Entertainment. Other companies involved include All About Props, IDA Media Group, MAUVE Films, Cinder Lighting and Grip, the Blank Stage, Siete Music and More.
